Tradition
There are countless early houses in New England that still contain the
original pine flooring. The wide pine floors, like the exposed beams,
are distinguishing traditional characteristics of these rugged old homes.
It is a forgiving floor. Prevention Magazine (September, 2007), stated: "Surfaces with no give-like ceramic tile or hardwood flooring-can make each step stressful for your lower back." By contrast, the porous cell structure of Eastern White Pine is resilient and comfortable under foot.
Finally, if you desire the look of a basketball court, this is not the floor for you. But given reasonable prudence, a pine floor will endure and take on a bit of character as it ages which will add to the beauty of your home.
